KNEW JEEZY
:nilly: Last night my wife ask me a question that made me wonder.

IF lets say a major part of your Filteration fail, like your canister, sump, HOB. what do you do. do you guys have backup canisters or HOB's ? do you guys just go to the store and buy another canister, what about the warranty on canisters, if you ship them out and get them fixed, are you still obligated to buy a backup ?

any thoughts on this matter, or if any of you guys have experiences, pls share, as this never happened to me yet :naughty: thx

well i have back ups even my back ups have backs ups
But if they did breack going to the store

I had a fluval that packed in but luckily it was after I stripped the tank out and did a total re-setup. It just would not start again, luckily I had no live stock at that point.

For me id say my marine land cannister magnum 350 filter. Ive had so many problems with that filter, but i cant complain cause i got it free.

That's what spares are for and worse case scenerio-fellow fish keeper friends are for. I've had middle of the night rescue calls go out to me before from some friends of mine. I get up, grab some bags and buckets and head over to help.
I have live well airerator's (sp.?)that are battery powered on hand also so I would be okay.

I have a couple of powerheads and HOB filters as backup. I would use this until I get my canister fix.

always have two or more filters running on a tank that way one goes out you have other still running
example
just last month my fx5 kicked the bucket had to send motor sent out to get replaced took 2 weeks total for them to fix it and for me to get it back
one AC110 keeped one oscar one fire eel two severums and a pleco alive in the 135 tank mind you
it took a couple days for the ac110 to grow some bacteria to make up for the loss of bacteria in the fx5 and water changes every 4 days but everything turned out ok
if not for a second filter running on the tank at all times
i would have to run out bye a new filter and go threw a cycle with all these fish......NOT FUN!!!

how much waterchange did you do daily ?

Depends on stock and tank size also how many days you won't have a filter. A 125 with three 6 inch severums won't need as much as a 125 with six 10 inch Oscars. Plus if it's only a day then it's no biggie.
