I was talking to a long-time LFS owner yesterday and both of us were wondering about a couple of species we had kept years ago and really haven't seen much of recently. One is the trout cichlid. I had a 12" male in a 200 which was absolutely gorgeous but hyper-dominant. The other fish was a kendalli. Sort of marbled pike fish which could also get after other fish. Anyone seen any big ones of either recently?

My LFS has both for sale right now. They get them from a local cichlid breeder though that has like 80 differen't sp., and a couple of months ago I traded my big pair of champsochromis and some others for a pair of rays.

I've noticed that C. caeruleus is not as common as 5 years ago. C. spilorhynchus was never easily available, but I haven't seen them anywhere for some time. I can find their cousins of Buccochromis species much easier now.

I've had the same problem. . . I don't see either of those at my LFS's lately and I have about 20 LFS's in my area. . . maybe just not much popular demand.
