I am setting up a new 300-gal aquarium and can't find a sump big enough for an adequate wet/dry. I know that most people on this forum would tell me to build one - maybe using a 75-gal tank. My skills aren't that good and I'm afraid any sump I build will look like I built it.

So... does anyone know where I can BUY a sump of that size? Or anybody who builds them custom to order? I'm willing to pay for good quality.

Thanks for any tips!

No go on DIY suggestion, funny thing is I felt the same way as you do but I went ahead and did anyways and it works great. Its funny I bought a sump filter also cost me with the pump etc around 600 bucks. I dont know what came over me to try the diy filters but got a wild hair and did it I have never looked back
this is a good sump but you will need some more mechanical filtration to go with it

You could also add a nuclear canister filter for water polishing

Here is my latest sump filter I made out of a 10gallon has 6 liters of bio rings flows just under 400gph on a 40gallon breeder tank. Doesnt look great but it works extremely well. I will make the sides for my diy stand and cover it up for noise reduction and better looks

Is that a can hooked up to it? Intake in sump outake In tank?

There's a seperate return and pump too?

How is the system regulated?

No thats a seperate filter (eheim canister). The system is regulated by the tank water level, pump output (varialble output), and size of the diy overflow. I used the pipe sizing chart in the diy filter section here on mfk, 3/4 inch pipe flows about 337 gph so I bought a 400gph from here http://www.fishtanksdirect.com/AquaEuroSubmersiblePumps.aspxmp. I need to make the entry pipe to the filter sock with 90 degree bends instead of 45 degree but its all I had here at home so I used it still works great. That way I can extend the pipe into the sock below water level and reduce noise. The return pump is on the right side.
