Hello all,

The smallest Gar I can find in my area is 10" but I would like a 5" or so Gar. It's imperative that the size is relatively small because I will be housing him with a 4" Jardini (can't be having him infiltratin' up on the Jardini).

Is there an online store that you guys like to shop that would offer such a small size?

Thanks for the help!

They don't stay small forever you know. At that size, it will be growing pretty quickly.

You might as well wait, since Florida gar are seasonal. In the spring there will probably be smaller ones available. They are all wild caught as far as I know.

if you had a gar and a jardini the same size wouldnt they grow at similar rates. arent they both a pretty fast growing fish?

Thanks for the news flash ospy. Demjor19, yes they should grow at about the same rate, I am concerned about a larger gar confusing my 3" Jardini as a meal, which is why I need a small gar.

i think if you get a small gar you will be fine.
