I've been wanting to make a sponge filter and every page I've found that shows how to make your own say's to use large porous sponge so it doesn't clog as quick. Only problem so far is finding the sponge to make it.

Anybody know where I can score some? I'm looking for a 6 to 8 inch block of the stuff.

Ask Dr. Joe really nicely to go down to the docks and get you a natural sponge or two. (the Tampa area is the sponge capital of the world.)

Other than that, go to walmart and check out their fabric dept. They have all kinds of good stuff that can be used for filtration. You can also get some foam for airconditioners at Lowes. Although depending on where you live, you may have to wait till spring...

This is one of pages I've come across where the guy uses a huge sponge. I emailed the guy to find out where he got his from and he says in Switzerland you can find it in almost every petshop. I'm in Louisiana, doh!!!

I'll have to go check out the fabric section in Walmart. Where's some old couch cushions when you need some? :( :duh: :yuck:  :wall:
