where can i get good sand cheap? i mean at the LFS they are charging $1.25 per pound for the golden brown sand that i want.

i know... i just know i could buy it cheaper somewhere maybe online or something.

it should be pointed out that this same LFS sells mexican pebble for $1.99 per pound when i could get the same exact stuff... 30 lbs. of it for just $9 at home depot.

so is there any place online or anything that i can get this golden sand for cheap?

Pool filter sand has the color that you're describing and its about 5-6 bucks at a hardware store. If you want something a little bit more fine than pool filter sand, playsand will work, but you'll have to rinse it like crazy.

...or not if you want to keep plants. The clay regular playsand contains is a good substrate fertilizer. If you are not planning on having plants, though, then I'd simply get washed sand (pool filter).

Holy crap, I never thought I'd see those words:ROFL:

Yeah i just bought a 50lb bag of sand for around 7 bucks at the pool store  I also got a box full of broken slate for $1.05 at Lowe's

I went to a large hardware shop (B&Q Warehouse).

I saw 25kg's of playsand for £3.98.

I thought that was a real good deal.
One of the bags was open and damn was that sand dirty.

Would definitely need a hell of a lot of rinsing.

playsand is no good. its not fine like the LFS sand.

i think the sand im looking for is "silica sand"

play sand is really fine....atleast the play sand around here is. It's every bit as fine as the LFS sand that I have. (just dirtier lol)
