i have just picked up some river rocks stored them for a few weeks out of water cleaned them up a bit and they look really good.

Marble, slate,rocks, Just test them with Vinegar, to see if they fizz if you are not sure. Or you could just ask them for "non calciferous rocks"......

you can't buy or pick up just any rock. some rocks contain elements which can alter your water chemistry (i.e. limestone will increase your pH).

Rocks are free if you think about it.

I've gotten so many rock off the PCH on the shore, all I do is rinse and place. Never had a problem.
