Single-grip harvester... pretty crazy machines!

Most timber around here is cut with a feller-buncher and then hauled out. They drive up to a tree and the head basically hugs the stem, then a big saw cuts it down and the tree is gently placed on the ground.

Weird to see from a distance... all of a sudden a tree shoots up in the air and then it is gone.

i was amazed at this modern technology.. although i hear these machines are so expensive not many in use yet...
 
I haven't seen the one you posted in action, but the picture I posted of the feller buncher is basically the way they harvest in most places in Canada.

The technology is amazing. They have delimbing machines that essentially wrap around the tree and pull themselves up, cutting branches as they go. This picture is a prototype that was actually built. It has the same harvesting head on the end of the boom as the video:
