i had a female holding for about 2-3 weeks now...i literaly fed the fish...she stayed down by the bottom corner like usual...i went to the kitchen, came back, i mean literaly 60 seconds, and her mouth was empty!! no fry anywhere. all the other fish were still pre occupied on the other side of the tank. Its like they disapeared!!

Am i missing something here with peacocks? would she hide her fry somewhere? what is an average "litter" that a peacock would have?

im so pissed i didnt get to her in time to put her in the other tank. i didnt think she was going to be ready for at least another week.

often they will swallow with first brood. It is not uncommon. Hopefully will have better success. You should consider have a small pile of tightly stacked rocks for fry to escape to just in case.

And when you do pull her out, i suggest doing it after lights out. this way she does'nt know whats going on till she's in the new tank.

bummer dude.... well i'm sure she's a hottie, you'll get a new litter soon :naughty:

ya im hoping i get more from her. Her and the male have such nice colours i was looking forward to seeing what they produce.

don't worry, if she held once she should again. as long as nothing else changes. If you redecorate she may not for a while, but eventually you will have more babies.

Yeah I had my female red peacock holding for about a week but I had to move my tank and she swallowed them. I know how it feels. I was bummed.

well next time she holds, after a few weeks i will make her spit. that way at least theres a chance they will survive.
