Where did my puffer go?

I have had a green spotted puffer for about a week now and I woke up this morning and he is no where to find? Could he have been the victim of foul play?

Tank: 55Gal
Stock:
1 Blue Damsel
1 Black/White Damsel
1 Maroon Clown
1 False Clown
1 Pink tipped Condy


My first thought was the condy however he does not have a large enough disk to chow down on a 1.5" puffer. Any ideas?

when I was a rookie fish keeper I put a 4" clown knife in a 55 with
6" oscar
3" texas
I wish I could have seen the oscar eat it. I was gone for two days and no more ck ;(

I would check substrate and decor. Also, your canister filter too. You never know i've heard some crazy stories.

Do you have a good cover? I'd check the floor.

if you have the gravel then look carefully in the gravel, puffer do bury themselves. Beside its only 1.5" so its even harder for you to notice. I have a 5" and sometime I can't even notice because only the fin and tiny bit of tail show up.

Wow you were right, I was stressing for the last two days trying to find the little guy, he had buried himself under the substrate under a live-rock over hang.
