Ok here is a mystery, and I'm trying to figure this out. I got a huge snail problem in my 500g and were talking millions, from too much food laying around from my RTCxTSN and gar. I added 3 bass, same thing sometimes they ate and sometimes they wouldn't. More snails. I just got an ornate birchir, more gars, African pike, sa pike, and a blood parrot. After 3 days it takes some serious searching to find a single snail bigger than a speck of dirt. I don't know what could possibly eat that many snails that quickly and effeciently. I ruled out African pike since they are fast killers not gracious. Blood parrot is 8" and fat, but not that fat if he ate that much. Sa pike same reason as parrot. Birchir? I have amazon swords that were covered, but don't have many teeth marks and my 22" birchir I think would eat the whole plant. He's def big enough, but idk what do you think?

My bet would be both the parrot and the pike. Between the two of them, I'm sure they could clean out a tank. I don't know how they stuffed down millions, but I'm sure they were extremely happy to do it.

Both are maybe 9" but the parrot I've seen sifting and picking around, but the sa pike eats loads of shrimp and whole night crawlers.

The more I think the only fish big enough are gar, catfish, birchir and bass. Rule out anything with tee and e bass and catfish since they were already in the tank and that leaves.... .!?!?!

I'd bet on the bichir. I read a report that a ropefish cleaned up a heavy infestation in a 55 amazon in under 6 hours. a bichir, especially a larger one, could easily do that to a snail population if they are like the ropefish I read about
