Ok, so I was tired of looking at this brown/red algea in the sand of a 29 gallon saltwater tank that I have next to my bed, and decided to go buy a book or something to help me get rid of it. I brought a book "Marine Reef Aquarium Handbook," by Dr. Robert J. Goldstein, and so far so gud. I just learned that there are three types of brown algea: Brown Algae, Attractive Brown Algae, and Unsultable Brown Algae and I m having a hard time figuring out which one I have in my tank(I just know that this stuff is all over the place, even in one of my corals.)
I also brought Kent Marine Strontium & Molybdenum. It suppost to make the corals stay open more.
I think the point that I m trying to make is that I dont know where I m going with this. it has been months now and I dont see any results, my corals are not spreading like I thought they would, instead I have this bad algae blom in the tank.

corals dont grow fast... can you post some pics so we can see what you are talking about

ok here are some picts. I tried takin some of the algae out so it might not look like alot. and as you can see I have two fragments of corals that I thought would spread after I purchase it. I have two demsels, 3 snails and a Gobby.

PS: I was trying to take a pict of the corals but they were close and the picts came out blurry!

Looks more like bacteria than algae.
Couple of questions: How often to do hydro clean the substrate? What is your calcium level? What is your photo period? What is your PO4 level?
