Where do pike cichlids swim??

Hey guys, tinkng about getting one but just wondering where do they normally swim?? I'm looking for a mid to top swimming fish are they one of those? The ones I saw in lfs are the xingu or something and they were hanging around in top of the tank...

Sorry double post,
Spoke to the lady just 10 minutes ago and she said that they "go everywhere" is that true?
I have a big piece of wood in middle of tank would it spend the majority of the day hidden or will he be out swimming everywhere?
Just Need a fish that is quite active to get the tankmates to become more active too (tank has arowana/FF/bichir)

They wont go to the top...normally mid and bot

how big is the tank, you could try a school of bala or apollo sharks if you have a large tank

Was just looking for one fish really, don't like silver sharks...
Just need something temporary that is semi big (around 7inch) and is very active!
Saw those pike cichlids and thought they fit the decription...
