Where does one obtain glass from?

Google has been failing me, I cannot find a place where they simply make glass panes. I live in Toronto Canada.

Is there a way to make my own glass?

From some of my research I think it's called float glass. Other than huge commercial machines I couldn't find anything on manufacturing glass. Is there no way to make home made float glass? or glass fit for aquariums?

I think you need an oven capable of reaching 2000+ degrees, and a lot of sand.

Glass cages will cut any size you need and ship it to you.

Dude... yellow pages. There are dozens of glass shops in Toronto. And no you cannot make glass at home. At least not with out spending ten's of thousands of dollars to set up the equipment. BTW glass is not made only from sand. Sand is the main ingredient but they also add many things for clarity, transparency etc.

your just crazy if you think you can make home made glass for a fish tank and this is a first time i hear someone talking and thinking about this lmao

Yep. Float glass is made by floating liquid glass on top of molten tin. There are only a couple plants that make glass in North America....the oven is like hundred feet long.
