I'm on a mission to find some Paretroplus menarambo.
Cichlids from Madagascar.
Anyone know of a LFS in so-cal that may have some juvi's?
or a local breeder?
If you're willing to drive to Moreno Valley, I believe there are still a couple of Paretroplus Kieneris over there. I got my Paretroplus Dambabe from Anthony (contact him through Cichlid-forum.com his name there is Ajay. He's around Carson area. He might have some menarambos.) If you want, you can wait a couple of years when my Paretroplus Menarambos might start breeding lol. (cross fingers) Otherwise you can try shipping them from somewhere else. (Check out aquabid.com) I know that if Jose/Cichlasoman is selling some under the category "other cichlids" it's a reliable source from Texas. I got my Menarambos from him. I think with the weather being the way it is now, it's much safer to ship out this way. Good luck. It's a crazy mission but hey, I was in that same exact spot as you a year ago. Also check out http://groups.yahoo.com/group/madfish/ There might be a local guy there who's breeding Pe. Menarambos.
BTW if you go Jose's route, He has incredibly great deal for his fish. $100-$125 or so for a group of 4 or 6 at 2 inches (sometimes larger) and the money goes to help fund the Wildlife Conservation Society for the Madagascar Freshwater Fish Conservation Fund at the Bronx Zoo in NYC.
