I am aware of Tangled Up In Cichlids and Wetspot for reputable stock in geophagus, but are you aware of any other vendors/breeders?

On the top of my list would be geophagus argyrostictus.
But, I look each week at both of these vendors and have yet to find this variety.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

I got a nice altifrons once from Imperial Tropical, but your best bet is Jeff Rapps from TUIC. He has the largest selection of geos in the business. You just need to patient for him to get what you want in stock.

Thank you! I keep looking each week... the patience is hard, but I am doing my best. :)

Argys have only been available a couple times this year and they sell out fast. Most of them are wild-caught and I'm told they do not ship well.

Darn... of course this is the case when it is the one I like the most.
I am more inclined toward the Geos that have blue/green coloration than red.
I'm not really all that familiar with the varieties, however, a newbie at this.
Are there other geophagus varieties that are similar (and more commonly available) in coloration to Argy?
Thank you!

Most of the surinamensoid geos have heavy blue-green iridescence on the body:

G. altifrons
G. abalios
G. winemilleri
G. brachybranchus
G. dicrozoster

Maybe the nicest blue-colored geo is G. mirabilis which is fairly recently described. They are fairy rare but there is one reputable person breeding them and selling them through Aquabid.

If you have an Aquabid account you can contact him through the site and ask if he has any left. Here is a video of his pair spawning:

Wow! They are gorgeous and exactly what I am looking for!
Thank you for the advice on a reputable dealer, I will sign up for Aqua-bid and email the vendor directly.
Many thanks. :)

I had to sign up and it looks like cant email until after 24 hours.
It says in the detail of the sale that he has more juveniles... hopefully still has some...
It also says he has a breeding pair for $250.00. For the rarity of the variety, is this a good price?
