I'm interested in getting a 6x2x2 ish setup, 180 gallons. I'd like to get something with the low iron (starphire) glass. Nothing is locally available in terms of my LFS.. basically it's either some strange custom size / bowfront - or standard sizes up to 125 gallon tops.

Only thing I can find online is glasscages which I hear terrible things about. I know oceanic makes great tanks and uses starphire glass, but I can't find anything to order. Where do you guys get your setups - and in turn, stands?

I did thanks, nothing there really. Unless I want something massive. I found two that were 180 gallon standard, one was scratched up and guy was asking too much for it, other was part of a complete salt water setup.

As a side note, what do you search on craigslist? I have to put in like "180g" "180 gallon" "180 tank" "180 aquarium" etc and I still feel like i'm missing stuff.

any LFS that sells Aqueon or Marineland tanks can order any stock size for you.

thats what I did with my Aqueon 150g. 125s are a dime a dozen but anything over that is often ordered in on a per customer basis.

thats the best thing to do if you want new stuff.

for big tanks, go with quality. careful if you go second hand.

Nothing wrong with glasscages. They're pretty solidly built. I'd take them any day over marineland or aqueon.

Aqueon or marineland are going to be the two that you can order from your LFS. Other than that, you're looking at a custom tank maker.

I'd recommend acrylic. Glass for anything over 100 is just stupid heavy. I'm never doing it again. Plus, there's TONS of quality acrylic tank anufacturers out there.

I think if I was getting a monster tank (300+ gallons) I'd end up with acrylic. For right now I just want to go with 180 gallons. Just google glasscages.com reviews and you'll see a million horror stories, no bueno.

Aqueon and marineland don't make the high clarity glass though is the problem. What manufacterers do and where can I get them? I have two AGA tanks (Aqueon) and they are quite nice, but the distortion and tint is certainly visible.

I've never owned an acrylic tank but from what I have read about it, I would rather stick with glass. Glass is tried and true, doesn't get much better.

I'm glad I didn't check out these glasscages reviews before I ordered mine, I would've been looking somewhere else and paying a lot more for my 300 with starphire glass.

I couldn't be happier with mine. A little silicone residue here and there, but it cleaned off easily enough. Looking at some of the negative reviewers pics I wonder what makes them so hit or miss on the quality?
