where to buy nightcrawlers?

Either u raise red wigglers yourself with a decomposing bin or buy them from a bait shop. During summer worms are free for me as I raise the red wigglers in the back yard but during winters when it's colder outside they don't produce so I buy them in bulk from a local bait manufacture. I use to pay $140 for a case of 600 worms but now they give me a better discount cuz I buy so many cases so it costs me $140 for about 1000 dew worms. They are 8"-10" in length and fat.

I buy them at the local bait shop for $2.50/dozen or I just wait until it rains and my daughter and I can go outside at nightfall and pick up as many as we want from the yard...literally. But if you want them for free with little effort...as long as you can find the extra space for a small rubbermade container...you can breed them ay home. Just add darkness, a little water, some newspaper, occasional veggies left over from dinner...the details are available online. And you will get great garden fertilizer too. I know people who have done it.

Try finding out where your bait shop buys there nightcrawlers, or just start calling bait shops all over your region and asking about shipping of wholesale orders, some of them are probably distributors who sell to other shops. I pay $27 for 500 canadian nightcrawlers from a wholesaler in Idaho.

Damn 27 bux for 500 worms is cheap...I feel ripped...I also buy from a local distributor and I still get charged up the ***...I looked online for Canada wholesalers but most of them have minimum orders of 100+ cases etc...Does your wholesaler in the US ship to Canada?

I use to get mine from walmart. $2.70 for 30 worms. I get the canadian night crawlers.
Now I raise my own year round. I got 2 things from walmart, started my own worm farm in a tote and have never had to buy any since (I waited about 2 months). I do have to replace some of the dirt in the tote and feed but its still cheaper. (I replace the dirt simply to give them fresh dirt every 6 months.) and feed coffee grounds, corm flower and vegies from time to time. Might cost me 5 bucks a year to do this. So the payoff is alot better now.

But to answer your question.. Walmart, bait shop or online. Cheapest in that order..

I don't know if they ship to canada, they probably get there shipments from one of the canadian wholesalers. Feel free to give them a call.

Hey John where at in Idaho? Can I get the name and number for them? Do they ship or do you have to pick up? One of these days I want to come see your set ups and rays.
