when people talk about market prawns, where do you guys get them and should i be buying cooked or uncooked prawns?

the grocery store... in the freezer or seafood section... raw is the way to go.. you can get cooked but theres no need..

i get frozen ones and toss them in a bowl of water till they thaw.. then peel them and cut them up into bite sized chunks..

2lb bag is like $5

id say maybe 1/2 a pound is tails/skin/ice... so either way thats 1.5lbs of food for $5...

Yeah 5ish is a good estimate. Somtimes I see them on sell for 4.something or even 6ish but since we vary our diet it lasts a little while.

Yup.. at your local supermarket, get the RAW ones. some ppl feed them whole or you can cut them up to smaller pieces. some ppl peel the shell... and some ppl feed it with the shell still attached.
With my smaller fishes i peel the shell off for them, and with my monsterfishes i leave the shell still attached... but i take off the tail and part of the shell near the tail.

go to your local asian supermarket.
i pay $12 for 4lbs of headless raw shrimp.
not really great quality for human consumption, but for fish :headbang2
