I'm looking for 1" and 1.25" PVC pipes and 90 degree elbows...surprised that I am having a difficult time finding them, it seems to be so easily found by everyone making the PVC overflows.

Been to a few home depots, rona and plumbing supply stores with no luck.

Any pointers, torontonians?

Thanks

Do the stores have any other kind of pipe that's the right size? ABS (black) or CPVC (yellow-white) pipe will work just as well as schedule 40 PVC.

Rona had some 1.25" ABS, which for some reason is more expensive than the 1.5". 6 elbows, 1 T, and a 10 foot pipe at 1.25 cost $30 + tax. whereas a 1.5 would run at $15.

I wanted to go with PVC if possible since it is lighter, easier to cut, I already have some (white?) pvc cement, and heard that it is safer than abs..

I don't remember seeing CPVC. although there were grey PVC conduits for electricals...their 90 degree elbows aren't quite what i'm looking for as they're long 1 foot turns.

Can PVC weld/cement to ABS?

good idea i'll try out big als. i didnt see any at the store front so i didn't think to ask them

Wow, that's outrageous that the 1.25" is so expensive. PVC and ABS can be welded together, but you have to use primer (on the PVC side) and transition cement. If your store carries Oatey brand solvents, transition cement is in a light green can. One of the main advantages of ABS is that it requires no primer, just solvent, so it's a bit quicker and cheaper to put together. But if you already have the PVC solvent, and the ABS costs an arm and a leg, I reckon you're better off searching out the PVC.
