Where to buy

You can buy in bulk from some of our suppliers, but you would have to buy quite a few to make it worthwhile.

Don't any of the localish stores have anything? I mean, I have to drive an hour to a decent LFS but there are generally 3-4 inch loaches or even 6 inch ones now and again. Yeah, the price isn't cheap but when you take into account the shipping I think it makes out in the end if you are only going for 6 or so at a time...

Where do you see 6" regularily?

I'm out in western Illinois.. Have seen some in Iowa (Davenport) and Rock Island. And I said from time to time which I would not count as regularly. I think Roe Aquatics in Rock Island has 2 right now that are 4.5-5 inches, don't think they are 6 inchers but I could be wrong. They looked like crap the first time I saw them but now are starting to look better and getting some color. Almost bought them but went with a group of 3-4 inchers instead...They also have a tank of 8-10 bigger ones than that but those aren't for sale..

Will have to check them out next time I'm in the Freeport-ish area.

It was a pleasent surprise when I went there. I had seen that it was real nice for a small ma and pop store on some review site but they had a pretty nice selection of fish, especially for out here. Better than a lot of the places I remember going into when I was younger around Chicago but times have changed in the past 15 years so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. I might have to back and get those two bigger loaches I didn't ge the last time I was there but am working on a long term solution to some water issues I have here. Nothing like liquid concrete coming out of one well and ag poluted water out of the shallow well.

Well I got goofy and went back and bought those other two.. I would say about 5.5 inches maybe...If I keep buying loaches at this rate I am going to need the whole big tank just for them when we move to the new house.

Hence addictiion.

I think I'll be okay as long as I stay away from the stores for a while.. Problem is, eventually I will need some supplies and I like to support "local" stores when I can so I will have to go back. I would say I could avoid the fish room part but I know that would just be a lie. As long as there are no 4+ inchers I think I can resist, although they had about 5 3 inch ones in with the big two I got and it was tempting...
