Does anyone know where I could score some thicker acrylic? All I can find at Home Depot and Lowes is very thin and flimsy. It seems too thin to use for a DIY sump.

I'm making a DIY sump for my 135g tank. What thickness should the acrylic be? The stuff I find just seems to be too thin. I see a lot of guys (and gals) here that have made DIY sumps before. What thickness did you use? Or does it even matter?

do a business search, for plexiglass, in your area.

nevermind miss read.

LGS....

Local Glass Shops. I would just yellowbook.com or hit the phone book. They can probably help you out.

They have decent prices on cell cast acrylic.

or you try to get it locally.

up to 12" high, use 1/4"
up to 18" high, use 3/8"
up to 24" high, use 1/2"

For a sump with internal bracing you could go up about 6" higher for those thicknesses.
