I have another fish to add to the looking for section of my signature. Does anyone know where I could look nto getting a planiceps catfish? I realize they are pretty hard to come by.

shark aquarium in NJ will have them from time to time aswell as jau and filas and pictus etc. ive always wanted to go there for their catfish selection. anyways with the cats you already have i wouldnt mix a planiceps with any of those lol.

I heard they get VERY aggressive after about 2'

Good luck finding one. I have been on the hunt for a bit now and haven't seen any. Where do you plan on housing a fish this size?

Please don't say a 300 rubbermaid or 10x10 pond because these fish need much more than that. Also the fish I posted above is no where near full size.

FYI a 10' pond will hold one for quite a while and that fish posted above is a full grown adult near 5ft. They grow about 3" a month to 2ft and slow down to 2-3" a month after that. I've kept this species in the past up to 30". I would say no aggression changes after 2ft in my experience, I grew my big one up with a piraiba and some temensis peacock bass as well as other shovelnose species (Tig,TSN,Juruense,Lima)

Also if you're looking for one they are available from time to time in the northeast I've noticed at various LFS but right now is not the time to find small ones available. Usually Nov-Jan is the best time. I've bought mine from ECZS in the past and have always been pleased with the service from John.
