Are there any online vendors who typically carry a wide variety of puffers? I'm tired of seeing gsp, f8p, fahakas and dwarfs. I find plenty of websites that have them listed, but they are always out of stock. I'm window shopping at this point. I had my heart set on a fahaka, but the realities and month to month costs of running a tank that's 300+ Gallons put an end to that. Oh well.....

Worldwidefishandpets also had a pretty good selection right now
That’s where I got my amazons - great selection there and the fish came very healthy.
Aqua imports usually has some stuff.
Divers den on LA gets some cool stuff, but crazy overpriced.

300 plus gallons for a Fahaka!? I have mine in a 166 and it's plenty big. They would be fine in a 125-150. The biggest cost is food obviously, but can be offset by watching the local grocers for sales on shrimp, mussels etc. You can also visit your LFS to see if they'll sell or even give you pest snails for free. Fahakas are amazing puffers IMO. Very interactive. Mine see's me coming from across the room and always swims up to meet me. Also takes food right out of my hand. :cool-1:

I don’t think that size tank is humane for a fish that size. I try to stick to a blue print of twice the fishes max size in depth and 4x in length. That’s what I have learned over the years, and I’ve stuffed big fish in small tanks too. So a minimum tank I would need would be 36 inches deep and 6’ in length. That’s a really big tank.

If that's what you like to go by, then by all means. But just so you know... my Fahaka will turn 12 years old this July. So I think I've been doing the right thing in terms of care, tank size, etc. I actually got the current tank she's in, custom built, just for her. ?:headbang2

I didn't say they wouldn't survive, I just believe in giving my fish room to swim.
