Any ideas where to get red quartz sand substrate for polys? I've tried several types of fish/reptile sand but the color fades with time and it gets sucked up in filter. I want to get a brown or red color, not just white pool sand. Thanks

Here quite a few people have red quartz in the poly habitats. I am sure someone will chime in soon :)
What poly' you have ?

If you're in NJ I can lend a hand in your search. Be careful with garnet...most of it is purple.

I doubt this will help but I have seachem fluorite in my poly tank because it was originally going to be planted, and its red in color and holds that color well so far. my polys all look pretty sharp on it, it has PFS mixed in but its at a higher ratio to the sand so the poly colors still pop.

Thank you for the responses. No ploys yet, but thinking about it. I have Seachem fluorite in my planted tank which is nice but I want a sand. I think crushed garnet is what I was looking for and looks like I'll be able to find it at a rock yard, etc. ShookONES, I'll make sure to avoid the purple sand. predatorkeeper87, what does PFS stand for, Plaster Sand ??

Dude. This question is repeatedly asked over the years. I'm going to start selling it on hear if I find any.
