I know they've gone out of business, but is there anyone that has made something similar since? I've found

and

I spoke with this company and he said

"don't know why not
the quartz granules are a natural mined product, processed to be round, dyed and coated with a urethane
it is not designed for underwater application when not encapsulated in a resin
so I can't guarantee how it will respond
"

You can look into Spectraquartz. Not sure if that's still around.

See if you can find Estes' Permacolor Quartz in the Trowel-Rite 20 - 40 mesh size. It's what I am using since 3M Colorquartz isn't available. I've been using it for the last 10 years and no issues with underwater use.

I'm not sure of your location but if you were in NE Ohio, I have quite a bit available in black, brown and white.

what part of ohio? I'm driving up to akron/canton in 2 weeks then making a pit stop of in PA to pick up a datnoid if he still has it by then. I was trying to find black in the 40s ( I think that's the less jagged one and smooth ) I wanted to add it to my FRT tank, just a very small thin layer, doesn't even have to cover the entire bottom tbh.

seems like there's a lot of places online who sell this type of material, but no one at the company knows if its safe to use.

I'm in Medina, I can PM you my phone # if you are interested.

I ordered 2 50lb bags of the black, we'll see how it looks.
Glad to hear you were able to find some! Was there a specific website your ordered from? Or did you message their customer service?

this was the site I used. I added a note to the order asking for the 40-s rather than the 20mesh, So hopefully they see that. Apparently they ship and it's only 1-3 business days.
