Where to get the best betta/ transshipper?

K don't laugh, I'm working on a planted betta tank and have seen some gorgeous crown tail on aqua bid, but dealing with a transshipper is getting old. It took 5 emails to get a shipping quote for one fish from him to me, and I missed the fish I wanted. He just told me he also has other fees, but didn't say what...

Long story short is there anywhere I can buy top quality bettas in USA? haven't found any with anything updated in the last year

Cmon I know they aren't monsters, but if anyone can shed some light on this overly complicated process in dealing with Thai breeder, transshipper, and whatnot? Or better where can I get quality bettas?
 
If u live in Florida or are willing to travel there, my local pet store,Fancy's Pets, has good Bettas. There is not a huge selection but they are always pretty and healthy. The bettas are kept in vases too instead of cups so they may be less stressed as well.
 
Are you looking for something specific?

I see a lot of places with pretty good looking bettas. Almost any place that sells fish sells them and if you look around at your local places, I'm sure you will find at least on that has some good healthy looking ones.
 
I was looking at aquabid for awhile and got tempted to try the shippers but in reality I am just a pet owner wanting a cool-looking betta, so ended up finding someone locally who does all that, then I bought from her and picked him up directly. I believe she ships. I will try to find her contact, I believe she lists on ebay.

Good question though - are you looking for something specific? If not, you'll save a lot of money going to a LFS. I wanted a halfmoon plakat betta (so he could actually swim) and my two LFS weren't carrying them at the time. I refuse to support Petsmart/Petco betta sales.
