Hi there I bought a nu clear filter with 50 micron cartage, I want to add it to my system.

I have the following:

Drain to big bucket ehiem canister filetr the pond one. Inside is the green ehiem filter floss and effi substrate. This is a biological filetr for teh most part. from there the water goes out to an mdx five and then to a 4 prot manifold back to tank.

Where should I put the nu clear before the canister after but before the pump or after the canister after the pump.

Thanks,

I would say at 50 microns, place it between the pump and maniflod for polishing before returning to the tank.

Thats what i thought so after the biological filter...but then again if i place it before teh bio filter then less crap goes in there less cleaning....

50 microns needs to be last in line before the tank(return side of the pump), otherwise it will pack up so fast, you will have to clean it more often than the rest of the system, not to mention potentially starving the pump (bad idea), if it's before.
50 microns or less is a polishing/clarifying filter to me, made to trap the smallest/finest particles the rest of the systems misses before returning to the tank.

Thanks for the reply....I am not sure now if it is 50 microns or not might be 30 or 18 but either way I will place it last in line and let you know the results...I will try and take photos...its an x mass install...merry fish happy filter....

Its all set up and the tank looks great! Thanks all; it was an easy install everything has valves and true unions for easy removal I will take photos and let you all see!
later!

I run all canisters like that on my return pump more efficent that way....
