hey, i just aqquired a 55g with a fluval 4 plus internal filter.

how would you guys put this in the tank? angle height, nozzle etc.?

i've never encountered internal filters before, but this one has got a horizontal fat nozzle and a smaller one pointing upwards, wat is the for?

thats rubbish. i tried it and the damn thing either came flying off or all it did was make the filter noisy as the smaller nozzle draws in air because its supposed to sit just above the water line. that is what its supposed to do but it makes the filter really noisy. it mattered to us as my tank is in the living room.
its better to just leave it without any of the add on bits IMO. put the top as high as you can to the surface without making noise, it should just ripple the surface but make no noise at all.

it is a great internal filter though and very easy to maintain until it breaks and fluval state that the 4+ cannot have a slowed flow. they either stop or go with no in between, so i guess im seeing things when mine trickles water out.

thanks mate, that was a big help. i just tried sitting it in the bottom of my 22.5 g just to see what it was like. the nozzle was about an inch higher than the water, i didnt think it wud be so powerful but the water jetted out all over. ooops!

i thought they'd look really ugly but i cant really notice it on my black background.

you can adjust the flow with the blue sliding control under the nozzle.
put right to the back corner of a tank they are hardly noticable.
