does anyone have some?
what's there common name?

I believe its an Axolotl.. sometimes you can find them in pet stores or in Fish stores.. the scientifc name I Believe is Ambystoma mexicanum..

im not 100% though,
Matt~

I'm not sure about the latin name but I also say its a mudpuppy. If a store cant get one for you then your best bet would be a reptile show.

Because it is native to TN, you will need to be absolutely sure you retain your receipts. TWRA does not allow you to catch and keep wildlife so you must be able to satisfy them that your mudpuppy was legitimately purchased.

They are much larger and require more space than axolotls. They also do better in cool conditions.

i have kept many and in my opinion they are not that cool.
some turn into salamanders and newts, some stay in the gillled stage, and some stay gilled until you prompt them with environmental conditions to metomorphisize. they require pretty perfect water conditions and depending on the species usually cooler water than you can provide inside a house without a chilller. they are very interesting and unique creatures but i found them very boring and not worth the attention they require.

then what are larval stages of newts and salamanders?
They look somewhat like this, but this specific species in neotenic, meaning it does not metamorphose into an adult form.
Here's one I caught over the summer:

and here's a larval tiger salamander pic I found online:

Notice the difference in head shape and body proportions
