Recently I ordered a canister filter and its on its way I am having a hard time to decide which fish I should get. I am leaning towards gar, arrowannas or peacock bass. I have never any of these I know the arrowannas can get big and the gar can too.

Obviously get a AROWANA!!!!! Best fish ever. elegant and beautiful! My favourite fish! If you want a large fish that looks kinda like a dragon, definitely get a arowana! You must also remember that you'll need a huge tank for it to thrive.

YOUR FONT COLOR IS VERY HARD TO READ!! XD

I say gar because they're the least fragile of the three options and some of them can be kept in a smaller aquarium for life than the other two options.

Some of the smaller species of gar (Florida, spotted, shortnose, and tropical) will be fine in a 180 gallon for life although a larger aquarium is always better for an adult gar; with the juvenile gars, you will want to gradually increase the size of the aquarium that you keep them in to ensure optimal growth and feeding.

EDIT: OP, I just noticed that you voted for getting a gar. Good choice!

I am keeping them as babies in a 40 or 75 gallon tank first and then increase the size. I like the idea of the gar cause I could put them in a pond once they outgrow there tanks and keep them outside. I am mainly concerned with the room temps where the tank it will be its in a basement type room and it can get pretty cold during the colder months it gets in the 50s in that room. I am looking for a fish that tolerate the cooler temps and I dont think an arrowanna or a bass could.
