Hi....:headbang2I'm a new member as of about 5 min....Hoping i could get some advice from some experts... I am not new to fish keeping....but would like to tickle some brains....I live in Kelowna B.C Canada and are weather goes from 40 degrees celcius in the summer and to about -20 in the worst of winter{cold weather usually doesn't last} I'm going to put a fish tank inside a retaining wall....the tank itself will be made out of concrete and insulated to help with winter and summer....the viewing window is the concern i have....the tank will be about 1500 gallons and i would like the window to be about 10 feet long and 5 feet tall....now i have talked to a company in Las Vegas called ATM {Acrylic Tank Manufacturing}...they say about a 2 inch thick acrylic would do the the trick...fine and dandy but the panel itself would cost around $13,000 US...OUCH i said....so i looked around and read alot of different forums, but this website seemed to have the knowledge i 've been seeked....i was reading about the guys who have the outside tanks and the one that was built in the basement....the guy for the outside tank used 1/2 inch glass and the one tank in the basement used a Lucite acrylic glass....now the the outside tank guy must not have winter {i guess}....So i phoned The Lucite company and got a price around $3,000 US....i was much happier, but was wondering if anybody has used them or have other ideas for the window section of my tank...:) hope you can help

...and you shouldn't be shooting bullets at it. Btw, nothing is bullet proof if you have a big enough bullet.

hey, hows it going?? I live in Edmonton and am setting up a 750gal & 650gal acrylic tanks..........they are being built in the states by
"Tenecor"...... They are expensive( 1 inch thick) but warranty for
life.....it gets to 40 below here but the tanks are in a raised heated
bi-level........if the power ever went out for long the fish would
not be my first concern(well maybe)....
I have done some research and the stuff used to bond the acrylic
is very important... I have seen acrylic tanks open up at the seams...
I never heard of ATM.......a tank as high as yours will require at least
2 inches thick.....the higher your tank, the thicker your acrylic
and the cost quadruples .......does it have to be 5ft high????
FYI my tanks are $5000.00 each........(without sump)
I don't know about Lucite either...........check out delivery costs...
taxes....hidden costs....warranty....etc...... Good Luck!!!!
