I want to trying zero Nirate and water soft clean
I use Dolphin C-1600

Tap water is hard water and high ph

My tank water is
PH 7-7.4
Nitrate +20ppm
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Do each weekly 10-20% change

in Tank was one driftwood and buy another one driftwood on yesterday.

Buy new stuff and change filters

In Dolphin C-1600 water loop start under to top
Under sponge + pad
Under-middle bio ring
middle small Stone dont know name
top-middle carbon/pad
top Zeo-carb + nitra-zorb ( must each month new buy?)

Then out filters to top tank sump
-Wool (each one or twice week new wool) Still brown
-Sponge
-Bio ball
-Bio ring
-Small Stone dont know name

That fine for what clean and make low Nitrate?
How can i make water soft? more driftwood?

If you want to lower your nitrates do more water changes or add plants.

Have do 30% change water on last night.
Now how can make water to soft or medium?

If i build 250 gallons tank(start build 2011). 30-50% water change too many what can other idea? more plants, pad and wool, algae filters?

Filters do not reduce Nitrates ... do more and larger Water changes.

Just do the water changes ... I do 50% every 2nd day !!!!

The only practical way to remove nitrates is through water changes. Some people find ways to run their water through anaerobic conditions to remove nitrates, but it's fairly complicated, and if done wrong can result in sulfur compounds.

You could also add lots of plants, which will take nitrate if they have to, although they prefer ammonia, so what'll probably happen is that they'll take in all the ammonia and kill off your beneficial bacteria, which won't be a problem if and only if you can keep the plants alive and thriving. Otherwise your tank will recycle.

Don't mess around with the pH too much. Except for the most delicate of fish, pH is fine even if it's not the same as what's in the wild, so long as it's stable. For example, it's better to have a South American fish, which is normally found in acidic waters, in hard, stable water, than in soft water which is tampered with chemically and which can have pH swings at any given moment.

The only pracitical way to soften water is to use RO/DI for WC

If the problem with water changes is too much effort you might want to check out a drip system. If its the fact that water is too expensive then I would go with plants or maybe even reduce your stock some. either way there won't be a way to completely eliminate water changes.

Thanks you for explain me. I have do 50% water change all the tank.
75gallons tank better still little yellow. im going tomorrow to buy more plants.
Im sure that driftwood make the water yellow and nitrate up. I have add new and more carbon. hope that help a lots.

Can you explain me more how doing that work. Can too make better nitrate. what about driftwood?

Explain me about dip system!
