Which Background Materials?

Im designing a background for my tank and kept looking at other member`s tanks that had a rocky resemblance background, but what are they made of? Thanks for your help

It has a lot of good info on making custom backgrounds and statues. I personally like using insulation foam sold at homedepot for a couple bucks. I also use mortar.
