I have both. The Filament barb is a larger bodied barb that can be kept with larger fish when there full grown. Filament barbs are a more rambunctious fish when kept 2 or more together. Roseline is a more slender fish that can be kept with small peaceful fish in a planted tank
I personally love the look of a fully grown male filament barb with long streamers on the dorsal fin.
As was said above, the filament barbs will get a bit bigger, and will do better with bigger fish. They should be good if you ever do larger ca/sa cichlids.
Either way, you can't go wrong, though. They'll both do fine with Bichirs. Just decide which ones you like more, and go with them. Also, you might want to check and see how much denison barbs cost around you before making up your mind. They have come down in price in general, but are still very expensive in some areas (we're talking $20 per denison in some areas, and you need a group of 7+ for them to live comfortably).

How about Arulius Barb? You can have as many as you want for free- I have about 50 at ~1". These things are breeding like mad and I was thinking about just donating them to my LFS.
I don't have any good pictures of mine, but he's a picture I found of one that looks like my adult Males. They don't develop this type of color or long dorsal fins until they reach 2"+.
