After four knee surgeries I have come to realize that my days of riding sport bikes are over. Therefore, I have to sell my baby, a MV Agusta F4 1000R. I really hate to do it but that is life. :(

Anyway, I have decided on my next bike, a Harley Night Rod Special. The problem is that I'm not sure if I should go with a new 2009 leftover for $14,750 or a 2008 with 8,000 miles and an aftermarket exhaust and programmer. I can get the used one for $12,000. For the used one the payment will be $208 a month, the new one will be $261 a month.

So, giving the above information which one would you all go for?

Buy used. Just be patient and it will pay off. I just picked up a used 2005 R6 w/ 9,000 miles for $3,500 (PERFECT CONDITION). The guy used it to commute to work. GL

Go get a Duc Multistrada or Hypermotard. Every bit a Duc, just a more upright riding position. I got rid of my TLR for the same reasons, after a 200 mile ride I could hardly stand from being elbow to knee most of the day. And I love my Hyper!

I test rode a few Ducati's when I bought my MV, they just don't seem to work for me for some reason. They are great bikes, just not for me.

I'm thinking a raked out Triumph. Of course, I'm not a fan of Harleys.

I have never been a Harley guy either, actually about as "anti-harley" as you can get. The problem is there just aren't many bikes in the same class (style) as the Night Rod. The only one I know of is the Yamaha Warrior and I have already owned one of those. I looked at the Victories and they just didn't do it for me. A somewhat comparable bike was actually quite a bit more than the HD.

Oh, here is a link to the bike that I am planning on getting. It is the 2008 model.

Well things have changed, I believe I am going to trade my bike plus a few bucks for a beautiful 2006 Nissan 350Z (enthusaist) with 43,000 miles. I wasn't planning on this but it just kind of happened. The really nice thing about going this route is that my wife will be able to enjoy it as well.

This rule does not apply to harley's.
I sold my 08 with 12000 miles on it for $17800 and i bought it new for $19500. I could have traded it in to the dealer on my new bike for $16900.
they keep their value and most models are not a dime a dozen like street bikes.
Most of the time you can get a lot more attractive financing on a brand new one. So if the bike is only a year or two old it might be better to buy new.

*edit
Just saw you got a car instead, enjoy it. You'll be back on two wheels before you know it.
