I am getting my big tank in a week or so, and I think I may keep my 80g as a tank for a breeding pair of CA/SA cichlids. Sooooooo the question of the day is........ What breeding pair of fish would you stock in an 80 gallon and why?

Well I recently fell in love with Paratheraps Breidorhi. I think you could house a pair in that tank. He are some pics http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=279337.
I might be wrong but I think Jeff Rapps is selling the offspring of this pair.

Wow. Are you referring to the fish in pictures 2-4? Those are some gorgeous fish! It looks like Jeff has 1 inch offspring available. Maybe I can order a group, grow them out in the 80 gallon and let a pair form. Thanks so much for the link!

definitely. if you don't mind ordering online then i'd definitely do one of Rapp's available vieja or paratheraps. breidohri, aregentea, melanarus, synspilum or heterospilus...any of these would make a beautiful breeding pair. i think he might have zonatus available too which are awesome. :)

I definitely don't mind ordering online if its from Jeff :) I got a really nice group of fish from him a few months back and they will be going in my 180. I have one of his V. Synspilum and at 5 inches, he/she's already looking amazing. I was also thinking about a pair of the Hartwegi. Those Breidohri are awesome though! Ahhhhh decisions. I need to decide whether or not I want to be patient and grow out a group of young juvies, or get a male and female that already have some size on them. Do you know anything about the growth rate of the Breidohri?

how do i get in contact with this jeff guy, i see his name everywhere, and i know he has great fish, anyway, let me know

What are the dimensions of the tank?

they're not anything really rare or anything but GT's are really pretty(especially at breeding time)

and you can't go wrong with oscars.

also look into trimacs. They're kinda hard to find but they're really cool and worth the trouble
