I have not experience with photography, but since i am planning to do more wild life stuff. i want to get one.

what a good cameral for someone who starts out? should i get one of those go-pro's?

Look at the Panasonic or Olympus line. They have nice inexpensive small cameras they do not require a bunch of practice to take a fairly decent picture.

Get a budget dslr like a cannon d 300 series if your serious about learning.

GoPros are great for action and underwater vids, but poor quality for still photos. Like Justarn posted, if you want high quality, you'll need to learn with dslr. If you want just good quality, most point and shoot and cell phone will do the job. Here's some pics taken with my dated Samsung Galaxy 3.

Agreed, I don't even use the dslr anymore for fish, I have a Sony z3 compact with its 20mp camera I shot these...
