Hey guys and gals,
I'm planning on taking a road trip with my gf to her grandparents condo in Boca Raton next month...and I plan on bringing the fishing rods!!!:D:D:D
Anyways, I did a search on here for the canals, but no names that I saw...can anyone recommend somewhere with p bass n oscars thats somewhat close to boca.
Thanks everyone!

John

Coral Springs, down into Ft lauderdale is your best bet. If you want O's and pbass then Dade(miami) will be your destination.

I was just at a "DITCH" canal near I75 and griffin Road. I saw numerous full size pbass in this 15 - 20 foot across ditch canal <not the one next to griffin but just north of griffin>. Im not familar with them completely but there was one that looked like it had 3 or 4 dots and another one that looked like it had 3 - 4 bars on it. Some salvini and mayans but nothing was biting. Going to have to try live nightcrawlers or some shiners

very nice! I can't wait to go fishing for these guys! I hear they give quite a fight! You guys in FL are LUCKY!!!! Robb-what city is the spot your talking about in...and Varanio, which canals do you suggest in Miami?? Thanks all!

The Tamiami trail is great . Now is just the tip of BP season in the canals as the hotter it gets the more come out of the lakes into the shallows and more that bite.

These fish are the sun worshippers of the fish world. Though its been in 80s recently the wind is enough to put cichlid fishing on hold .

I went fishing over weekend and saw PB but no bite however other bigger cichlids were biting but not as much as usual

Its been slow fishing recently.

I was by Tamiami recently by a pond thats fed by canals and the PB were there but no biting only caught few Jags few Mayans .

The water level was real low but the wind we have had recently seems to affect these fish.

TO Answer the OPS question .. Davie Florida...

I found a newer ditch canal a little east of where I was talkinga bout ealier. Some of the most beautiful colored PBass, Mayans, I can see a tank release Oscar in there<very red>, Some others I coudnt see very well. Baby PBass right by the edge of the water hitting on the mosquito fish and mollies. I think some big Tilapia but not sure definitly Cichlid but didnt look like any Tilapia I have caught before. Some more intersting things towards the bottom I couldnt get glances of.

its amazing down here. if HR669 passes, I still could have awesome tanks and pond with just the wild exotic caught stuff down here.

Could you have seen Mozambique tilapia? I saw them while back by edge of Glades large lips real neat .

Saw many none bit than never saw them again.

they havnt even looked at my worms.. from what I can tell when I got caught in the weeds they went to attack then backed off .. I would say work a top water lure...

not marie .. definitly mozambique. Looked at the picture. When I saw it at first I thought Giant gourami.. now i know what it is.... Been seing a few of those dead on the top of the water too louie... one place had maries and mozambiques dead... All over davie we are far removed from the cold weather too... saw a big one by my other ditch canal by the shore looking sickly saturday. THrew a rock near it and it didnt take off...
