A RTC or a RTCXTSN hybrid ?? I have an RTC currently and I am possibly going to get a hybrid and a TSN but I am curious if the hybrid will get bigger than the RTC Will.. if so I will not be purchasing a hybrid RTCXTSN I will just get a TSN

Agree. About the same length and notably thicker the RTC would be. The hybrid has a bigger mouth. This is an average. YMMV. There are lots of deformed or poor quality/genes fish out there - the runts.

Moreover, I don't think there is anyone who grew out both to their fullest potential and not once but many times so they could say with more certainty (I'd be happy if they chimed in and proved me wrong). So, all this is largely theory talking. The guys running a huge fish rescues may know, like this fella http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/f...or-Worksop-based-fish-rescue&highlight=rescue who has had multiple RTCs and RTCxTSNs. I have not rescued nearly enough and not nearly the adults of both to know.

I think aquatic diaries mentioned the hybrids getting bigger and faster too

I tend to think that, if this is so, it is insignificant of a difference. Moreover, this may be a fall-out of the generally accepted notion of the "hybrid vigor".

In terms of the growth rate, RTC (father) grows at about the same rate as the hybrid. Pseudoplatystoma fasciatum (mother) may grow a bit slower.

In terms of the adult size, the hybrid takes after the mother's body shape mostly, so length is roughly the same but the girth of the RTC is significantly bigger.

I think the main driving force behind the RTCxTSN hybrid farming in SA is that they are more resilient to disease than either parent.
