I need a catfish for a 75 gal tank. Tank mates would be
Black ghost Knifefish
Oscar
Silver dollar X 2
Pleco
Peacock bass (Ocellaris)

any sugustions I was thinking Lima or marble but they have the possibility to get to big. what about Juerese( how ever you spell it)?

oh this is just planing ahead i do not even have the tank yet, but right now i do have most of the fish in a 29 gal growout tank the oscar is about 4.5 inchs the knife is 6-7 inchs the silver dollars are 3.5 inchs and the pleco is about 5 inchs.

Please don't get pbass or any of the catfish you are thinking of, that 75 will be stocked enough... If you are planning ahead, plan for a 200 atleast.

ha Butterfly pbass will not out grow that tank and if it does i got a 120 he can go in. Now thats y iam asked about a catfish to put in there? so get back on topic and offer a catfish i can put in there or dont post.

butterfly pbass (cichla ocellaris) will get to be at around 24" which means they will outgrow a 120 gal (assuming the width of the tank is 18")........ sorry, ummmmmmm lets see back on task.....

if you dont get the pbass you could do some larger pictus catfish just make sure your oscar cant eat them (if you get like 4-5 the school very nicely from what i have heard) also could do a/some raphael cats (make sure oscar cant eat it/them)

but out of the lima and jurenese i would go with the lima
lima gets 18" while juruense can get 24"
juruenese tend to be territorial towards other catfish (meaning only one catfish) while three or more limas could be housed together, from what i have heard.

Sheesh, you need a few hundred :chillpill:. And you should do research before buying ANY fish that you haven't a clue on.

I have been reseaching for the past year on pbass i would much rather have a tem. or azul but i def. can not provide the tank for one so on average a butterfly pbass is 10-15inchs which is perfect. Now the 120 has a width of 24 inchs. Now if you would stop derailing the post and lets get back on topic of catfish. Bigfisharecool Thanks for your input about the catfish.
