Reasons for each
1. I've always wanted a GT.
2. EBJD's of course are very nice but they are expensive and supposedly difficult to keep.
3. I saw a pic of a pair of mature pink cons and the male looked just like a mini-midas! Breeding pairs are cool and they could stay in the 30 for life.
4. Community with smallish-medium size fish seems like a cool idea

EDIT: The GT or EBJD would eventually be moved to a larger tank.

i got rams, kribs, and apistogrammas
u dont wanna put anything over 4.5" in because when they sexually mature they will become very territorial in a small tank

I voted for convicts. Two fish interacting and breeding are more interesting then a single fish. It's a lot of fun to watch them rear the fry. Also, they will be able to stay in the tank for life and you're right, they are like mini-midas (one reason I like Midas is because they remind me of giant convicts). The only problem you may encounter is what to do with the fry.

rams, they are attrctive

EBJD would be a good investment but they grow slow as hell but worth it thow

You could do a pair of firemouths.

I went with comm tank with a breeding pair. I like convicts too, but only a pair would make the tank look empty and you'd have to switch fry to a diff tank to grow out.

I've considered firemouths and I was just looking at some babies at the LFS store today but I think I'd prefer pink cons. And there's something about firemouths' body shape that I find less appealing, I think the head is too long/big for the body but just personal taste.
