I have kept Guianacara and Crenicichla sp. bellycrawler together successfully.
They are bothe different enough from each other to "not" feels like competitors.

The are usually sold as Crenichla belly-crawler, don't know if they have actually been given a scientific species name yet.
I started with a bag of 10, two inch juvies from an ACA convention auction, and they were put into a 6ft tank.
Within 2 weeks the alpha male had eaten all his brothers and sisters. A friend of mine also bought a bag of 10 at the same auction, and he ended up with one large female.
I then ended up with both, and as 7" adults they were very copasetic.
