which combination is better?

Hello,
I'm hoping to set up a 55 gallon tank with two gulper cats and wondering if I had two powerhead with right size sponge filters would that be good enough?
Another alternative is one ac 110 and good size powerhead and sponge filter. is this combo better?

I personally would do that combo. The 110 would be good for the surface agitation and is easier to maintain imo.
