ok guys i need your advise on eartheaters. So far my favourites are geophagus abalios geophagus altifrons and satanoperca daemon. So the traits im looking for are: gets big, can hold his own but not aggressive, and is pretty tough. Give me your opinion:)

great fish, that do well with other peaceful south americans, they grow very slowly though

geos arent too tough, but they can hold there own, altifrons are awesome, but check 4 geophagus dikrozoster, those trailers on that kind of geo grow so long and so fast.

What's the tank size and PH? If you do get Satanoperca Daemon, you will want to keep them in a very low PH/soft acidic water if you want them to breed or display their "true" colors. They are beautiful though. They can suffer from HITH pretty badly from poor water perameters. Geophagus Abalios can hold their own but can be a bully (for geo's anyway but it's not too bad). Some Altifrons variants are stunning and display the best colors IMO. ;)

what tankmates do you plan on keeping with geos? Long trailers is a big part of the geos beauty. would suck if its tankmates kept nipping them off

What are you wanting to keep them with? What size tank?

If you want something that is large and tough abalios is your best bet. They are the fastest growing of the three you listed as well. SOme of the altifrons get pretty big to. The tapajos altifrons get pretty large and are not as slow growing as some of the others.
