Would I be able to put a fire OR a TT for my 75g? I know they get to tend large sizes, but then again they are eels hence very flexible. If not, then I might just get a delhezi bichir.

Thanks!

Actually never mind, I saw some pics...didnt realize they were THAT thick! i might go for a stripped peacock eel. Anybody has any experience with those?

I just rescued a stripped peacock, and right now hes living with my african cichlids in a 75g doing just fine. Thought the african might mess with him, but the only difficulty I have is just making sure food makes it to the bottom for him. He likes bloodworms and sinking hakari cichlid gold. I've heard they can be jumpers... So have a good lid, other than that I'm learning too :]

hmm...how long do you think I can keep a 6" fire eel in a 75g? Not much going on, except a senegal bichir, a lima freshwater flounder, and a marble gar. FYI, I have an extra sized pump 1750gph pump as the tank was used for saltwater.

My LFS said they never get any peacock, but have a nice fire eel that hes selling for $25 (will obviously look closely at him to see any diseases). Its usually $39.99.

I got my fire eel at ~6" and he's been growing ~1" per month. So you'd probably be gtg for about 1.5-2 years or so.

Peacock eels are good fish although you wont see they much during the day and they are hard to feed. Make sure your gravel isn't sharp because they like to bury themselves under it and give them lots of hiding spots. I have a peacock eel living with a firemouth in my 40 gal right now.

lmao. are you serious?

you have six months max if you want him to grow to his full potential. you keep him enclosed like that and you will stunt his growth.
they are nocturnal and do lots of swimming around while you sleep. a 75 is way too small.
