What size tank u putting it on eheim as lots of different size filters . Type in eheim and fx5 in search bar and u will find lots of info on them both

the Fluval FX5 and Eheim's canister filters are the best IMO... they both have their pros and cons.. i use both and i love both..

Ive also heard good things about RENA's XP line.. i have no experience with those.. so i shouldn't say anything other then what i have heard..

yeah if your on a budget the rena Xp3 is what i use for my 125 and it keeps my water crystal clear (and this tank is still at my parents so only gets cleaned when i go home once a month at best but it does have a light bioload), i LOVE it iv had it for at least 8 years and havent had to replace a single part yet, now that im redoing my tank and putting big, messy SA cichlids in there i will be adding another Xp3 to help do the job better and this filter costs like 1/3 the price of an eheim of similar capacity, cant say about the others as i have no experience with them but i have heard mixed reviews on the fluval, oh and with the new rena Xp4 i have heard of impellar problems so if you have a bigger tank i would do multiple Xp3s instead of one Xp4

What he said. Except I do not own a Eheim anymore. I stick with Fluval!
