I'm figuring out how i want to set up my sump for a 180 gal. with a Red earded slider. I'm going to custum make it out of acrylic so i can make it as big as possible.

I plan on using two filter socks at the begging 200 and 100 micron or 100 and 50. I was wondering which sizes are good and why?

I see there are basically 4" x8" and 7"x16" If there isn't the full 16" of lenght is it just a wast to bunch it up in the bottom? About how often do they need cleaned, do these clog up fairly fast? (i know this has to do with load but an esamite given my set up would ne nice)

So yeah just looking for comments and suggestions on filter socks.

on my 90g sump i use the 7x16" size, you should go with these as well, unless you have a very low sump.

i use a 100 micron sock inside of a 50 micron sock, gives me great results. the lower the number, the finer particles they filter out and the clearer water youll get. how often they need to be cleaned depends on your tank and your stocking levels.
