Hey everyone.... I sold my 125 high yesterday and currently have about $70 left over to put towards new filtration. With Christmas coming up, I'm sure I'll have more to add to it.

I have a 125 long mainly discus tank. Currently running an Emperor 400 and Penguin 350 HOBs.

I had been planning on getting a Sunsun 404 canister filter to add to those 2, but I'm wondering if I should look at others? Probably can't spend over 150ish. Any opinions? Thanks!

If a sump is out of the question then sunsun canisters are the best bang for your buck. I have 2 and wouldn't buy another canister.

If you go with the Sunsun 304b you can save about $20. The only difference between the 404 and the 304 is that the 404 is 1/2" taller.

If you get one of these canisters, you can ditch the HOBs, but I would recommend keeping the 400 running as well since having multiple filter units, for back-up puposes, is always a good idea

I wanted to go sump but funds were limited and we don't have the space for it unfortunately.

fair enough. go with a sunsun, you can actually probably get several of the smaller units for under $80 lol or one big one.
