I just bought a used 55 gal that I am getting ready to hook up. I want to keep a couple oscars in it. It came with a magnum 350 I guess. Now I have a chance to purchase one of these filters for the listed prices
a fluval 405 for $50, an eheim ecco 2232 for $25 and an eheim ecco 2236 for $40 First of all are these good deals and if so which would you buy for a 55?

thanks...........rick

You'd be better off with an AC110 for 45 bucks. Two oscars in a 55 are gonna create alot of particulate waste(uneaten food and poo). So it would be best to clean the mech. filtration on a weekly basis. I wouldn't want to be cleaning a canister that often.

I agree about the AC110. I have one on my 75 gallon that has a pretty big bioload. It does have really easy maintenance. I also just replaced my old eheim with a Fluval 305. Althought maintenance on a canister is normally a god bit of work, on the fluvals, you shut off the filter, shut off the flow, and undo the one quick-connect and the filter is detached from the tank, much easier than the ehiem. It also has a little plunger in the lid to prime it, so from that list I'd go with the Fluval

Thanks guys, just ordered my $45 AC110 and even got an addition $5 off with a coupon code. Course shipping was $9.99 so total cost for the filter to my door.............$50

Will probably pick up the fluval too.

Thanks again.
